M. D. Ambulance Care Ltd. a division of Medavie Health Services, manages, and operates ground ambulances and a regional communications center. We have a Health Bus that is designed to take health care to the people and is staffed with Nurse Practitioners and Paramedics. Our Community Paramedicine is a joint project with the Saskatoon Health Region which is a new and evolving model of community-based health care in which paramedics function outside their customary emergency response and transport roles.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, HR, Medavie Health Services, the Human Resources Advisor provides guidance and support to the business on a broad range of HR disciplines including employee/labour relations, recruitment, performance management, workplace investigations, compensation, change management and HR administration. The HR Advisor is the primary point of contact within the business providing hands on support to the leaders and works closely with the Chief Operating Officer, MD Ambulance. The Advisor works collaboratively to ensure efficient and effective service delivery as well as the integration of HR across the organization.
The Human Resources Advisor is responsible for providing advice and interpretation on collective agreements, WCB issues, HR policies, procedures, and practices also provides recommendations and solutions to HR challenges in the workplace such as employee conflicts, progressive discipline, workplace accommodations and labour relations.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
A major component for this position is the establishment of HR leadership, expertise, and to build relationships with levels of management and employees in a positive and optimistic manner. The attainment of credibility is critical. The HR Advisor demonstrates and fosters a collaborative approach. This is achieved by maintaining effective working relationships with all participants and by demonstrating technical and professional expertise. This also includes reliable advice and delivery of quality service while ensuring a consistent application of Human Resources policies, procedures, programs, services and collective agreements.
You must be able to travel from the home office (Saskatoon) for up to one week at a time. Travel will be by car or commercial aircraft or a combination of both.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- University degree with a concentration in Human Resources or Industrial Relations and/or a post graduate diploma or certificate in Human Resources
- Minimum five years’ experience in a progressive human resources generalist role preferably working in a unionized environment
- A CPHR - Chartered Professional in Human Resources designation is an asset
- A combination of relevant education and experience may be considered
- Deep understanding of HR related legislation
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office in particular excel and experience with an HCM system would be as asset
- Ability to build rapport quickly with key members of the management team
