Medavie EMS is pleased to announce its gold level sponsorship of the upcoming Tema Conter Memorial Trust Heroes are Human cross-Canada tour this May through July. Medavie EMS is providing funding overall as well as logistical support for 10 sessions being held in Atlantic Canada.

The Tema Conter Memorial Trust began in 2001 as a charity offering scholarships to paramedic students. Today, it has grown to become a hub for research, education and training, as well as a peer and psychological support resource for the men and women serving in Canada’s public safety organizations.

We chose to support this national event because we share a common passion and commitment with the Tema Conter Memorial Trust – and that is to create awareness about the prevalence of PTSD among first responders. For us, we are particularly aware and concerned for our paramedics, nurses, call takers and dispatchers who work across operating companies and witness tragic events each day. We know some have come forward and are on the journey to recovery, but others may be suffering in silence. Most importantly, we also share the vision with the Tema Conter Memorial Trust to support and encourage those who are affected to speak up, speak openly and seek treatment.

The events in each province will be open to the public and free of charge, and we encourage everyone to attend along with your family, friends and peers.
