Medavie EMS Expands Health Care Reach

Company - Emergency Medical Care

October 20, 2016

Medavie EMS is once again expanding the scope of their services in Canada with the addition of quality health care advice and support through 811 to the list of the operations managed by their Nova Scotia based subsidiary Emergency Medical Care (EMC).

811 is a provincial health care service available in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island offering 24 hour, seven-days-a-week telecare service over the phone through a registered nurse (RN).

With a long history of providing pre-hospital care through EMC in Nova Scotia, and Island EMS in Prince Edward Island, Medavie EMS was the ideal candidate to assume responsibility of the telecare services. EMC has also been providing technical support to the program since launch in 2009, giving them a unique familiarity with the service.

“Medavie EMS has demonstrated success across the country with organizing health system assets through innovative models of care that help improve both the health of patients and the care systems they navigate,” said Erik Sande, President of Medavie EMS. “We saw this as a great opportunity to add to our existing business and partner with 811 to continue their work on improving health outcomes.”

EMC will assume full responsibility of 811 services on November 1, 2016.
