Medavie EMS becomes Medavie Health Services

Company - Medavie Health Services

January 18, 2017

Medavie EMS announces its corporate name change to Medavie Health Services effective immediately.

The name change reflects the diversifying range of clinical, logistical, and support professionals from across different health care fields employed and managed by the company. While Emergency Medical Services will continue to constitute a large part of the company’s operations, Medavie Health Services leverages its clinical, logistical and health care management skills to make a significant and innovative contribution to the health and wellbeing of Canadians.

“This is an exciting change that represents both our leadership in health care delivery and the increasingly broad range of health care professionals we are working with to deliver new and innovative models of care,” said Erik Sande, President, Medavie Health Services. “It also reflects the commitment of our organization toward improving health outcomes across the communities we serve.”

Medavie Health Services currently operates 12 subsidiary companies across Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and the state of Massachusetts. The names of these companies are not impacted by this change.

About Medavie Health Services

Medavie Health Services, a primary health care solutions organization, manages a number of subsidiary companies in the fields of pre-hospital emergency medical services (EMS), mobile integrated health, telehealth medical communications, public safety delivery and clinical training. These services are provided by members of the Medavie Health Services Group of Companies through long-term and performance-based contracts. Medavie Health Services is currently contracted to provide EMS services in six Canadian provinces, and in Massachusetts, making it the largest private provider of EMS management services in Canada.

Medavie Health Services is part of Medavie, a health company. Together with Medavie Blue Cross, Canada’s largest Blue Cross provider, we are committed to providing innovative solutions that will improve the health of all Canadians.

Our shareholder is the community. Instead of paying dividends, we channel 10% of our annual net income to the Medavie Health Foundation as part of our commitment to a different kind of health care.

Since late 2011, the Foundation has committed more than $7.5 million to more than 60 organizations through partnerships and grants funding in the areas of child and youth mental health, type 2 diabetes and – new for this year – post-traumatic stress disorder.
